Aquatic Activities - Adults

In this section, explore the aquatic activities offered to adults at the Complexe aquatique Michel-Leduc (Aquadôme). Note that the swimming lessons available are those from the Canadian Red Cross.

Our aquatic programming for adults is divided into two categories: "Learn to Swim" (classes from the Canadian Red Cross program) and "Aquatic Fitness". The courses and their descriptions are listed for each category. Please use the "Registration" tab at the top of this page to view the schedules, the fees and the number of places available, or to register.
 

Learn to Swim

This category consists of the following two levels : Adult Basics 1 and Adult Basics 2, in which participants learn to swim and become familiar with basic swim strokes. Previous swimming experience is not required for the first level. This category also includes a Swim Strokes course for anyone wishing to improve or perfect their swim strokes.

ADULT BASICS 1
(55 minutes)

Previous swimming experience not required

Participants will learn to: float on their front and back; glide on their front and back with leg kicks; swim on their front for a distance of 10 metres; enter and exit deep water. They will perform activities in deep water (assisted).

ADULT BASICS 2
(55 minutes)

Pre-requisites: some swimming experience; able to swim easily on their front for 10 metres

Participants will learn: to swim on their back with shoulder rolls; the front and back crawl (15 metres); to dive from a sitting position; to dive from a kneeling position; to perform a front dive from a stop position and to tread water. They will swim for a minimum distance of 25 metres.

SWIM STROKES
(55 minutes)


This course is for anyone wishing to improve or perfect their swim strokes.

AQUA SWIMMING NEW !!!                                                                                                                                                  (55 minutes)

The course takes place in the pool of lengths. It is intended for mid-level swimmers (mastering two minimum swim styles) who want to improve their skills and improve their fitness through structured swimming training.

AQUA-TRIATHLON
(55 minutes)
Classes take place in the shallow end of the pool. Combination of three aqua-activities: bike, physical fitness and swimming.
 

AQUA-COMBO
(55 minutes)
Combination of aqua-fitness and aqua-jogging. Classes include exercises to improve cardiovascular performance and muscle tone. Recommended for people looking for more intensive training. You must be comfortable in deep water.


ABDOS-FESSIERS
(55 minutes)
Classes include exercises to strengthen the abdominal, buttock and thigh muscles.


AQUAGOLD
(55 minutes)

Aquatic physical fitness with music for those 55 years of age and over. Gentle exercises to help improve cardiovascular performance and increase muscle tone, followed by a period of stretching and relaxation. Classes take place in the shallow end of the pool.


AQUAFIT
(55 minutes)

Aquatic physical fitness with music. Exercises to help improve cardiovascular performance and increase muscle tone, followed by a period of stretching and relaxation. Classes take place in the shallow end of the pool.


AQUAJOGGING
(55 minutes)

Activity with music accompaniment, performed in the deep end of the pool, using a specially designed flotation belt. This activity is aimed at cardiovascular fitness without any impact on the joints. Knowing how to swim is important. Suitable for beginners and the more experienced.


AQUATRAINING
(55 minutes)

This course consists of aerobics (25 minutes) and swimming (30 minutes). Exercises work the muscles and the cardiovascular system. Correction of swim strokes.


AQUASPINNING
(55 minutes)

Aqua-bike lessons take place in the shallow end of the pool. 50 minutes on the bike and 5 minutes of stretching exercises at the end. Good for the joints. You can pedal at your own pace to start with.


AQUA-GENTLE
(55 minutes)

Gentle exercises carried out in the leisure pool. This course is recommended for those suffering from arthritis, back problems or muscle pain.


AQUANATAL
(55 minutes)

Gentle exercises adapted for the needs of pregnant women, consisting of cardiovascular exercises. Helps you to keep fit throughout your pregnancy. Also helps to prepare the muscles that will be needed during labour and delivery. Takes place in the shallow end of the pool. Doctor's authorization recommended.


AQUA-WITH-BABY
(55 minutes)

This course takes place in the shallow end of the pool. The baby stays close to its parent, in a dolphin-shaped pool seat. The parent performs various exercises that work on the cardiovascular system. In the final 15 minutes of the lesson, the parent learns to interact with the baby in the water.
